Spartans Trying to Go Baaaack to Baaaack ………..Meet the GAC Spartans

What song comes to mind as I think about the GAC Spartans 2018-2019 this upcoming season, it could be from Canada’s favorite son and basketball aficionado. The hit song Back to Back comes to mind, GAC was 28-3 last year with a AAA State Championship and lost one starter, Brandon Harris, 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals per game. Key returners: Hunter McIntosh 6’3 185 lbs guard (USA Today Georgia AAA player of the year) 20 points/game, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals a game, Ben Sheppard (Belmont Commit) 6’6 guard, 15 points per game, 5 rebounds, 3 assists. Roy Dixon 6’0 guard, 13 points per game , 5 assists, 2 steals. Chris Hinton 6’5 270 lbs. (Michigan football Commit), 12 points per game, 7 rebounds. 16 points vs. Amanze Ngumezi (10 points) Elite 8. Shawn Ohuabunwa 6’9 210 lbs. who saw decent time as a junior but will make a huge impact as a senior. Army and Brown are interested. The Spartans played their best basketball the last 3 games of the year and look to improve on that. Key new players to look for are junior 6’5 wing Cole Perusek who saw limited time last season and Often starter last season junior 6’2 junior Clifton Baskerville who played important minutes in the state playoffs. Until someone knocks them off, why wouldn’t you think GAC has a chance to repeat, 4 starters return. While 3 A will be competitive with again Cedar Grove, Johnson-Savannah, and Pace with New Head Coach Sharman White manning the sideline, its gonna be tough to stop the Spartans. Alot of D1 potential and Coach Eaton has blazed his own trail after last year’s run.
