In the last 3 years no team has been as dominate in DeKalb County basketball as the Lithonia Bulldogs, led by Coach Wallace Corker and Coach Sam Marion. The Dawgs have ran rough shot in the county and 5 A basketball winning 2 region championships, with 2 Elite 8 appearances, and one Final 4 appearance. Though the Bulldogs went 13-17 last season they, appeared in the region championship game and went on to the Elite 8. Eric Gaines, 6’1 Junior, Lithonia could be right be in the hunt for another long run and region championship. Gaines spent the summer with the Atlanta Xpress, and earned MVP honors during the Batttle of Georgia at LakePoint televised by SUVTV. Gaines can score on all 3 levels off the bounce, with the long ball,, and so tough moves to get to the rack. He will be joined by 6’7 Justin Myles 6.2 Rebs 2.9 Blocks, and D1 level guard Brison Rockcliffe, steady guard who Coach Coker expects to have a big year and sharpshooter Zephaniah Corker as the main guys for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs will also get help from Osiris Corker who comes from Woodland and N’Kyzie Hawkins who averaged 13.4 points at Arabia Mountain last year. The wildcard and key piece could be Broderick Jones, junior football player who has already committed to Kirby Smart and the other Bulldogs down in Athens. This could be another big year on 2440 Phillips Road, in Lithonia. In a tough region with Miller Grove, Columbia, and the very dangerous Southwest DeKalb, this has to be one of the best regions in the state of Georgia. If you can get out this region you could find yourself in the Final 4 or State Championship, ask Lithonia they have been there before. Watch these guys make a very serious run at a state championship in 2018-2019.
